Description
Associação Qe is a teaching/residential complex for mentally disabled people 18+. It includes a pedagogical centre and a residence.
Most of the clients of Associação QE have an intelectual development disability that covers a diversity of syndromes and pathologies, such as Trisomy 21, Trisomy 8, Autism, etc. Our goal is to maximize the autonomy and the integration of these special people, by developing their competences through Individual Development Programs. Associação Qe does not intend to be only a “school” but a “life simulator”. The activities of Associação Qe are based on art studios, therapeutic activities and professional activity simulators. We currently serve 77 clients, of which 24 are residents.
Competence and Expertise Offered
Associação Qe uses “Gentle Teaching”, an intervention methodology, based on the human interdependence psychology. For more than 8 years we have integrated international volunteers that work full time with us for periods of six months or more. Our professional staff is well versed in on the job training for international teams. We are very interested in interchange programs with similar organizations in other countries.
