Description
ILIAKTIDA is a civil non-profit society actor in Lesvos island, supporting refugees and migrants since 2009 and a UNHCR and UNICEF partner since 2016
Iliaktida responded to the refugee crisis providing accommodation and support structures through government and privately funded initiatives. The services provided mainly concern families, women and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). Iliaktida provides child protection and accommodation, health and legal aid, educational and recreational activities, interpretation, psychological and social support. Mentoring and educational actions could be organized in order to facilitate access to basic services (health, housing, education) and labour market for integration purposes.
Competence and Expertise Offered
ILIAKTIDA is currently one of the basic stakeholders dealing with the refugee crisis in Lesvos and a UNHCR and UNICEF partner since 2016. ILIAKTIDA has implemented many projects (funded by UNHCR, UNICEF, IOM, Greek Ministry of Economy and Development etc) for the accommodation, education and social support of migrants and refugees. Within a consortium ILIAKTIDA could provide it’s expertise in supporting refugees and introduce partners to the local context and actors network.
Expertise sought
ILIAKTIDA is interested in developing it’s competence concerning the support of migrants/refugees within the current emergency situation. Partners that have already implemented relevant projects are sought in order to share knowledge and best practices. At the same time Iliaktida is open to new ideas and partnerships concerning refugees’ integration and education practices in a multicultural environment.
