The role of the Norwegian Helsinki Committee

The Norwegian Helsinki Committee is a non-governmental organisation working to ensure that human rights are respected in practice. We do this through monitoring, reporting, teaching and democracy support.

NHC keeps the Norwegian civil society informed about the EEA and Norway Grants and the Active Citizens Funds, assists in establishing contact and cooperation between non-governmental organisations in the beneficiary countries and Norway, and advises in matters related to the civil society sectors. The overall aim is to increase and strengthen bilateral cooperation between organizations from Norway and the beneficiary countries.

NHC cooperates with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Norwegian embassies, fund operators, donor programme partners and the Financial Mechanism Office.
